Airbus Protect Takes Part in “Cyber Phoenix”, a German Armed Forces’ Exercise

Cyber Phoenix: training to defend against attacks

Airbus Protect had the great pleasure of participating in Cyber Phoenix 2024 – an exercise organised by the German Armed Forces that serves as a platform for international exchange in the field of cybersecurity. The aim of this exercise is to simulate realistic threat scenarios and develop effective defence strategies together with representatives from the military, government agencies and the private sector.

Cooperation with IT specialists from different fields

Cyber Phoenix 2024 offered Airbus Protect the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the latest developments in cybersecurity and to work with specialists from different fields. In particular, the exchange with experts from the military and government institutions was very enriching for us, as it enabled us to further optimise our own security strategies and establish new partnerships.

Complex scenarios to prepare for a digital emergency

Using a diverse infrastructure of Linux and Windows systems, the exercise involved identifying the malware and communicating with the attacker’s command and control server (C2) to then initiate appropriate countermeasures. The resulting Indicators Of Compromise (IOCs) had to be supplemented with Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) information from third-party providers. In the end, a comprehensive final report was prepared based on digital forensics and incident response best practices.

Strengthening cybersecurity through international exchange
